Our military is constantly fighting wars (which were mostly started illegally by past presidents) against terrorists in foreign countries thousands of miles from our borders and we patriotic Americans fully appreciate and support each member of our military. However, while they are overseas, some of our neighboring countries as well as criminal organizations within the United States are committing various acts of terrorism including killing thousands of Americans every year.
Drugs trafficked mainly through Mexico kill more people in the United States due to overdose poisoning than deaths from guns. According to drugabuse.gov in 2017, there were more than 72,000 drug overdose deaths with nearly 30,000 from illegal synthetic opioids such as fentanyl, nearly 16,000 from heroin, and over 14,500 from cocaine. Out of the over 72,000 deaths, more than 60,500 were caused by illegal drugs trafficked and distributed largely by drug cartels from Mexico that either produce the drugs or purchase them from China.
Other sources of terrorism in the United States include violent gangs. According to the FBI, “[s]ome 33,000 violent street gangs, motorcycle gangs, and prison gangs are criminally active in the U.S. today. Many are sophisticated and well organized; all use violence to control neighborhoods and boost their illegal money-making activities, which include robbery, drug and gun trafficking, prostitution and human trafficking, and fraud. Many gang members continue to commit crimes even after being sent to jail.”
These violent acts, murders, and deaths committed, directly or indirectly, by neighboring countries as well as criminal organizations in the United States are blatant acts of terrorism and must be treated as such.
These countries and criminal organizations must be legally classified as terrorist countries and terrorist organizations and war must be declared by congress on them so that we may utilize our military to completely destroy them just as we are doing to the terrorists in countries in the middle east.
Mexico is now considering legalizing heroin production in its many poppy-producing states. This is a blatant act of terrorism against the United States.
It should be noted, however, that our own government continues to deny permission to our military to burn all the poppy fields in Afghanistan for some unknown reason. These poppy fields are used to fund terrorists and the drugs produced ultimately kill people by being cut with various lethal chemicals and the drugs kill by people overdosing on them.
The scorched earth policy of ancient Rome can be implemented to destroy and prevent further cultivation of poppy fields. Since the lands will only be used to produce drugs and nothing else, it follows that sterilizing the soil is the only permanent solution in the destruction and prevention of future growth of poppies.
